High-volume drying ovens are used in a very wide range of applications, both in academic research and in industrial quality control and manufacturing:

1. Industrial manufacturing and quality control

Automotive and aerospace: drying of large metal, composite or plastic parts after painting/coating, stress relieving and thermal ageing tests.
Electronics: removing moisture from printed circuit boards (PCB), drying electronic components before assembly and high-temperature endurance (burn-in) tests.
Plastics and rubber: removing moisture from raw materials and curing (hardening) moulded plastics.

2. Construction and materials testing laboratories

Aggregate and concrete testing: drying large quantities of aggregate, soil, concrete and rock samples used in road and construction projects to constant mass for moisture determination (standard tests at 105–110 °C).

3. Chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries

Bulk drying: removing moisture from chemical powders, granules or pharmaceutical raw materials on large trays.
Glassware sterilisation: high-temperature dry-air sterilisation and drying of large numbers of large laboratory glassware items such as flasks, beakers and pipettes.
